Meet Hans Hertel
An aerospace engineer by passion. Study of Aerospace Engineering at one of the best German Technical Universities, RWTH Aachen followed by a 5 years’ research program at the University of German Armed Forces in Munich, which was concluded with a PhD thesis on helicopter rotor aerodynamics.
The industry experience is comprised of full involvement in different projects in R&T and Future programs at MTU Aeroengines in Munich, followed by different project roles at Rolls-Royce Deutschland with focus on Thermodynamics and all aspects of aeroengine Performance related development: cycle optimization, validation, verification and Customer Compliance demonstration. The more than 30 years of Project experience covers a product landscape which extends from civil and military turbofans, turboprops and shaft power engines, from the very first analytical set-up of the product up to certification and EIS as well as in-service support.
The leadership roles in different project teams including international collaborations add to the projects management experience and skills maturity.
Besides thermodynamics those projects included very close involvement into development of propulsion system control laws, heat management evaluation, risk analyses, noise emission evaluation, and adaptation for operation with alternative fuel types including natural gas and hydrogen.
